Over-the-Air Mode

You don’t need to run an Ethernet cable to your Sapphire Eye if it is not easy or convenient to do so. Instead, you can run it in Over-the-Air (OTA) mode where performance results are transferred over your Wi-Fi network. However, there is some initial setup required first.

  1. Plug your Sapphire Eye into AC power using the proper 12v adapter.
  2. Next, plug the unit into your Ethernet network.
  3. Login to the Sapphire Configurator and find the Eye in the Topology.
  4. Right-click on your new Eye and select ‘Edit’ (see screenshot below).
  5. Check the ‘Enable OTA’ box.
  6. You will be asked to setup your First and Second Management SSIDs, which should be common networks you use often. These are the SSIDs that the Sapphire Eye will use for connectivity to the cloud. It must have access to this SSID to continue normal functioning.
  7. Once these networks have been successfully setup, unplug the unit from Ethernet and wait for a flashing green light.
  8. Now you may unplug the unit, place it where you want, and plug it into AC power.
  9. Go back to the Configurator and run the Setup Wizard under the Tools menu for this Sapphire Eye.
  10. Once you’ve successfully completed the Setup Wizard go to Analyzer to see data reporting from the new unit.
