Creating a new account with a username and password
This document describes creating a new account and configuring MFA using Microsoft Authenticator.
To successfully create a new account on the 7SIGNAL platform, an administrator must create a user record in the user management tool.
Admin Creating a User Account in 7SIGNAL

To create a new user for your organization, a 7SIGNAL platform administrator must first create a user record in the Users section of the management tool.
- Once the administrator creates the new user, they will instruct the new user to navigate to https://start.7signal.com.

The user will navigate to https://start.7signal.com and choose “Set up your Account”.
- The new user must enter their email address and create a password. The email address must match the one assigned by the administrator in the previous steps.
- Next, the user will then be asked to configure a multi-factor authentication device (MFA). In this example, we will use “Google Authenticator or similar” and the “Microsoft Authenticator” app. MFA is a requirement to login using a 7SIGNAL account.
- On your phone or tablet, open the “Microsoft Authenticator” app and choose the “QR code” button in the bottom right side of the screen. This will add a new MFA account.
- Scan the QR code on the 7SIGNAL sign up screen to synchronize the Microsoft Authenticator tool. Or, enter the code manually by clicking the “Trouble Scanning” option on the sign up page.
- The new account will now show a six-digit code that will recycle every sixty seconds.
- Enter the six digit code displayed in the authenticator app to the account to complete the setup.
- Next, copy the recovery code and store it in a secure location (such as a password manager tool). This code can be used to log into the account if you are without your authenticator device. Note: If you encounter an issue with MFA, 7SIGNAL support can reset your account.
- Optional: If your device has a fingerprint reader or another security authentication mechanism, you can set it up now.
Logging In After Setup
Once the account has been created, the user can go to https://start.7signal.com log in using their email address, password, and MFA tool. The MFA tool can be “remembered” on a trusted computer.
