Product End of Life Policy

Policy Owner: Chief Product & Technology Officer

Effective Date: March 1, 2023

Purpose

Products reach the end of life (EOL) for several reasons, including market demands,
technology innovation and development-driven changes, or product maturity and
replacement with functionally richer technology. This policy will help you manage
EOL transitions and explain the options to migrate to alternative 7SIGNAL, Inc.
(7SIGNAL) technology.

7SIGNAL advises customers to install the latest product releases, security updates,
and service packs to remain as secure as possible. Older products may not meet
today's more demanding security requirements. 7SIGNAL may be unable to provide
security updates for older products.

Scope

This policy, and all policies referenced herein, shall apply to all 7SIGNAL users.

Policy Statement

At 7SIGNAL, we know that customer success is built on trust and delivery. We’re
committed to providing our customers with visibility into our product & feature
retirement philosophy to continue to offer a highly available, scalable, and secure
platform. We will share advanced notice to customers in formal communications to
system administrators.

7SIGNAL determines which products & features to retire using an extensive process
that includes analysis of product usage information and by listening to customer
feedback. Our goal is to continuously innovate and apply our resources to areas
that add the most value for customers. While we understand that product &
feature retirements sometimes causes temporary dislocation, we believe that we can best serve our customer and partner community by focusing on their highest
priorities.

Lifecycle

The lifecycle of 7SIGNAL products follow this format: Supported --> End of Sale --> End of
Support --> End of Life

  • 7SIGNAL will generally provide 90 days to 12 months lead-time notification
for discontinued products and features within the lifecycle of End of Life
    (EOL)
  • The 90-day lead time can be expected for technology-based features and
functions when 7SIGNAL determines there is a similar replacement
    available.
  • Up to 12 months lead-time can be expected for products where 7SIGNAL
determines customers may need a longer period to test and implement an
    alternate solution.
  • If marketplace or industry drivers force technology or functional changes,
7SIGNAL will notify customers within a reasonable timeframe when possible,
which may be beyond 12 months.

We sometimes accelerate functionality retirement for these reasons:

  • Essential Changes: Changes that are necessary or appropriate to protect the
integrity or security of our service occasionally are required. In these cases, it
is important that those changes occur as quickly as possible. And we
communicate with customers transparently with as much notice as possible.
  • Third-party Software: 7SIGNAL functionality that integrates with third-party
software can be retired if the third party’s piece of the integration is
unavailable or unsupported. The pace of retirement then is beyond our
control, but we strive to provide as much notice as possible.

As general guidelines, when we announce a change in EOL lifecycle for a product or
feature, we endeavor to provide customers with these considerations:

  • Digitally written notice to system administrators in the support portal as
noted on each change in the lifecycle and alternatives will be
    recommended.
  • Respectful timing: Consolidation of significant changes, including feature or
product retirement, as close to the major seasonal releases as possible.

Definitions

For purposes of this policy, the following definitions apply:

  • General Availability (GA aka Production Release) -is the release of a product
to the general public. When a product reaches GA, it becomes available
through the company’s general sales channel.
  • End of Life (EOL), A process that guides the final business operations
associated with the 7SIGNAL Product life cycle. The end of life process
consists of a series of technical and business milestones and activities that,
once completed, make a Product obsolete. Once obsolete, the Product is not
    sold, improved, maintained, or supported
  • End of Sale date (EOS), The Product is no longer offered for sale after this
date. This is also the last date to order the Product through 7SIGNAL or
partners. The EOS date is documented in the EOL notification.
  • EOL Notification Date, the date on which the end of sale and the end-of-life
milestones for a Product is communicated to the public.
  • Last Date of Support (LDOS), The last date to receive support as entitled by
active service contracts for 7SIGNAL hardware and software. After this date,
    support is no longer available.
  • Sapphire Eye (SE), 7SIGNAL's high performance client and Wi-Fi performance sensor.
