Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic announced today that Finland-based wireless network technology company, 7signal Ltd., is locating its sales offices and Network Operation Center in Akron’s Biomedical Corridor.
“In today’s world of health care,” said the Mayor, “one of the most critical missions is to develop computerized software and hardware that enhances the work of doctors and hospitals.”
The mission of 7signal is to make wireless LAN (WLAN) network work reliably in hospital settings.

7signal Sapphire receives FCC approval for 802.11abgn product use in US
7signal Sapphire Eye (802.11abgn) unit received FCC approval for use in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (ISM, UNII-1, UNII-2, UNII-3 Worldwide and UNII-3 Upper) frequency bands in US. Approval allows use of 7signal Sapphire 802.11abgn Eye units in channels 1-11, 36-64, 100-140 and 149-165 complete 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

7signal Sapphire Eye monitoring unit received FCC approval for use in 5 GHz (UNII-1, UNII-2 and UNII-3 upper) frequency bands in US. Approval allows use of 7signal Sapphire 802.11abg Eye units in channels 36-64 and 149-165.

ISO/IEC 80001-1 standard was published on October 28, 2010 after years
of preparation.
WLAN is widely used in medical applications, especially in US. Hospitals
commonly use WLAN network for infusion pumps, patient monitor systems, bar code
medication readers, nurse call systems, panic/alarm systems, location services,
EMR access with tablets & laptops and voice services (VoIP over WLAN).
Use of IT network for medical purposes sets new requirements for
